WHAT IS THE NEWPETS UNIVERSITY PROGRAM?

Newpets is currently looking for the best talent in its fields to join our University Program. Our year-round program offers an unprecedented opportunity to become part of a community of caring people and organizations that join forces to create a brighter future for wildlife, people and Ukraine and help us become closer to realizing solutions to some of the most pressing environmental problems of our time. We are looking for brave people who share our passion for conservation, research and science and who want to help spread our mission and become an integral part of the success of our foundation. WHAT ARE THE BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY FOR INTERNSHIPS?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited Ukrainian university or college 

  • Advanced level of at least three languages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • External Independent Evaluation (EIE) of 190 or higher

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment, accomplishing tasks with limited resources at a rapid pace

  • Intermediate skill level using Windows, Macintosh Operating Systems

  • Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Hands-on experience in lab research or through a prior relevant internship or work experience

WHEN ARE NEWPETS UNIVERSITY OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE?

Interns must be available full time for a minimum of 12 weeks. At Newpets Foundation, these opportunities are available year round during the following seasons:

  • Spring (Jan – Apr)

  • Summer (May – Aug)

  • Fall (Sept – Dec)

IS THERE A MINIMUM EIE TO APPLY FOR THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM?

There is no minimum External Independent Evaluation requirement; however, we have a preferred cumulative EIE of 190 or higher. We also preferably relates to internships with a TOEFL/IELTS Certificates of Achievement 

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON MY RESUME FOR NEWPETS?

In addition to your contact information, we encourage all applicants to include the following on their resume:

  • University name, degree and major(s), cumulative EIE, and graduation date

  • Achievements in science

  • Number and level of language proficiency

  • All prior relevant internships/co-ops or jobs

  • Relevant project team involvement and role on the team

AFTER I APPLY ONLINE WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR BACK FROM A RECRUITER?

Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we are unable to personally respond to each applicant to our University Program. You will be contacted by a recruiter if you are selected to interview for a position. Please keep in mind that recruiting for each posted internship position can happen over a six month period so we ask for your patience as we complete the candidate review process.

WHAT IS THE UNIVERSITY PROGRAM INTERVIEW?

After applying for the University Program, candidates will be selected for online interviews. Our best advice is to be ready to tell us about your greatest scientific achievements and the problems that you have encountered. In addition, how did you specifically innovate and take your project to the next level? Be prepared to discuss in depth your individual contribution to projects. Being familiar with Newpets mission and how it directly relates to your skillset is also important.

ARE INTERNSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES PAID AND CAN I RECEIVE COURSE CREDIT FOR THEM?

Internships at Newpets Foundation are paid and can also be used to satisfy course credit at the discretion of your university.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO BE DOING AT NEWPETS FOUNDATION?

The Newpets Foundation is known for giving trainees practical, complex projects and responsibilities that directly influence the development of innovative scientific areas and the latest endangered animals and marine life of Ukraine. In addition, Newpets provides resettlement, housing assistance and special events specifically for interns.
